I HAVE A GANUGHT SKINNY LOOKING VENESTUS IN MY 4*18*18

IN THE PAST I HAVE POSTED THAT THIS TANK IS OVERSTOCKED, CURRENTLY WORKING ON A SOLUTION TO THAT

PARAMETERS AS FOLLOWS

AM 0
NI 0
NA 70-80 PPM
PH 7.8
TEMP 29

REALIZE TEMP IS A BIT HIGH AND NITRATES ARE HIGH (NEEDS A WATER CHANGE, WILL DO TONIGHT) HOWEVER THIS TEMPRATURE AND NITRATE LEVEL HAS NOT BOTHERED HIM OR ANYOTHERS IN 12 MONTHS? HE WENT SKINNY AND DARK ALL OF A SUDDEN, HE IS STILL EATING AND HANGING AROUND WITH HIS OTHER VENESTUS BUDDIES. NO VISIBLE MAKINGS/ RIPED TORN SCALES MABIE A BIT OF WHITE STUFF ON HIS MOUTH BUY ITS HARD TO SEE AND COULD JUST BE CAUSE HES UNDER THE WEATHER?

ANY INFO GREATLY APRECIATED!

Firstly, please type with normal type and not all caps. Thank you.

Now, as for your fish, it sounds like it has mouth fungus. Are you sure it is a male? You keep calling it him. If it may be a female, she may be holding some fungused eggs or such. Thus causing a fungus on the mouth. Either way, she is probably not eating much if at all. And thus lossing weight. If this is what it is, it will quickly progress as the fish becomes less healthy and the fish cannot fight it off. This can be deadly, and if this is what it is, should be treated quickly. The high nitrates could indeed be the underlying problem here. As they could be causing increased stress in your fish, and decreased immune systems.

As for your tank, well just because the fish appear to be doing fine in all those high nitrates, does not mean it is not harming them. People that live in the city, live in heavily smog areas, and appear to be doing fine, but the heavy smog does affect them. All I can say is, it is not right to keep those fish in such poluted water all the time. You should thin out your stock and sell them for credit or anything at your lfs.

If it is fungus of the mouth, you should treat her right away. Most any fungus meds at your lfs should be fine.
