Hi There.

If I need to make a salt solution for somthing like gill flukes, how do I make a 2.5% solution? I have done it before, but I forget.

By my calculations. . . . since I'm a Canadian and a budding chemist and I do everything metric, that works out to 25 mL salt/1 L H2O. . . . it works out to about 7 tablespoons for every gallon of water. That's a whole lotta salt! So what were the plans for this amount of salt anyway??? If the problem is in fact gill flukes you should just get some Fluke and kill it. I'll be better able to give you some more help if you could provide us with a description of the problem and some numbers for water quality. Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and pH would all be great. And please don't subject your fish to the salt until we get some more info here. . . . PLEASE.

With the current meds on the market today, salt baths are becoming rare...

I would rather eat dirt than stress a sick fish to a salt bath and create a worse situation.

ther eis no emergency here, I just read on this site that it was a short term solution to gill flukes. Since I get the most time to spend in front of my tank at night when my kids are in bed and notice problems then when shops are closed, I thought it would be handy to know.
