We moved yesterday, the fish from my 75g were in a large Rubbermaid tote from approximately noon yesterday until about an hour ago. I had a heater running in the tote; temp was 77F.

Unfortunately my sev is in bad shape. His coloring is off, white and grey. He did not fight when I went to net him, hasnt moved since being put back into the tank, and he's gasping.

All of the other fish are fine. I really don't have an extra tank to put him in; is there anything else that I could do for him?

sounds like he's badly stressed, hard to say what to do, since you can't isolate him, heavy duty meds are out, adding some melafix wouldn't hurt anything, unless you have plants, and of course some stress coat. beyond that you just have to sit and wait, see if he gets better.

sorry to hear about that though, sev's are beautiful fish, and it would be a shame to lose him to a move.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Any time I do a move I make sure not to feed the fish for at least 3 days before the move. This means they don't make a lot of waste to mess up the water. I also add Seachem's Prime because it has slime coat and helps with ammonia. The next step I take is to have an air stone running.

Once again I am really sorry about your loss. I know it sucks to lose fish. Even more so when you have had them for years.

Aw terri, thats a bummer, I guess any advice I could give is a little late, and I feel a bit of a lame-o giving it.

Sometimes gently hiking the temperature can reduce shock, but its a dicey business. You can metabolically force a fish into activity with warmer temperatures and it massively reduces shock, as long as you can do it gently enough not to cause direct thermic shock. Warmer temperatures are seriously stimulating in a good way to all sorts of ectothermic creatures, it often counteracts some of the harm caused by the circulatory retreat aspects of deep shock.
The trick is not to overdo it.Reckon a severum could be helped in the short term by a temperature of about 82f. Dark and warm is the way to go.

Sorry for your loss.
