I'm not quite sure what they are, perhaps a fungus? Please advise on what this is, and the best way to handle it thanks. |

Unfortunately, without looking at it we really can't be sure so it's probably best not to jump to any conclusions and dose any medications until we have a better idea of what's going on. Like I spoke about before, try some melafix and pimafix treatments for a few days and keep us posted as to how he's doing. Use 1/2 tsp of aquarium salt / gallon along with that if you want as well. Stay away from that antibacterial you were talking about before for the bloat. Like I said in the other thread, bloating like you described usually comes from a constipation issue in bettas. If he's not doing better in a few days we may need to break out something stronger but i'd start with the natural stuff first. |

I couldn't find PimaFix so I got Melafix. I added it to their bowls today cause I only did wc like 3 days ago. But I noticed it wasn't helping and some of them were starting to act worse. I just did wc on all of their bowls and put more proper amounts of everything in. Right now, for Cy, I am looking at Clamped Fins (as of tonight) and Pine cone effect, laying on the bottom on and off more then normal. Nego: Very pale colour for 2 days now, clamped fins as of tonight. The clamped fins were noted when I first added the melafix before wc. Kai: He is a crown tail, so I was seeing a lot of curling fin ends, a little bit of fungus on those, and slowly loosing his bloated belly. Heiji: Slowly loosing his bloated belly Incie: Slowly loosing his bloated belly, was resting at the bottom more then normal after adding the Melafix the first time, plus that strange clear/white wavy things coming out of his face were there, but are now gone since we went through the water change. They all seem to be acting slightly more normal now after their water changes. Here is what I just went through. Cy - 4cups / 0.25G of water 77degree's 1/4 Tsp. Salt 0.12ml Melafix Nego: 4cups / 0.25G of water 77 degree's 1/4 Tsp. Salt 0.12ml Melafix Kai: 8cups / 0.5G of water 77 degree's 1/4 Tsp. Salt 0.2ml of Melafix Incie: 12cups / 0.75G of water 77 degree's 1/4 Tsp. Salt 0.27ml Melafix Heiji: 12cups / 0.75G of water 77 degree's 1/4 Tsp. Salt 0.27ml Melafix I cleaned each bowl in hot water and distillied white vinager, and rinsed very well in each bowl. The bowls room temp have settled on 75 degree's each for right now, it ranges around 76-78 degrees in my house typically. They each got a little fresh water dip after being taken out of their bowls and place in a cup to help rid them of any remaining guk on them from the old bowl water, also so that less of the guk would get into the new water. |

You may want to look into meds for him. The swolen bellies on the others could be early signs of dropsy...keep up on feeding small ammounts of peas. Once they start looking better slowly reintroduce them to their regular food, but feed a small ammount of pea every now and then. It helps keep things moving ![]() ![]() ^_^ ![]() |

Their bellies are all starting to look a bit more like normal as well. Kai's fins are also starting to look a bit torn etc etc. And Cy is still showing some of that pine cone effect. I did wc's on the bowls tonight, trying this instead. I used my big bucket. 2.5G water 1/2 Tbsp. Salt 1/4 Jungle Fungus Tab 1/4 Tsp. Aqua Safe (water treatment). The water has been sitting out and is the same room temp as what their bowls were. So.. WE'LL SEE! This is starting to feel a little nutto. What should I do if this Jungle Fungus stuff doesn't work? |
