Dont forget to remove any carbon in the filters as that will also remove the meds Thanks for your input as always, Shane http://thetanklog.blogspot.com/ - [ Thanks to ScottF ] http://www.natureaquariumclubofutah.com/main.html |

It looked swollen and its poop hole (for a lack of a better word haha) seemed swollen and stuck out a little, like it was clogged up or something. It looked kind of fat since the day I got it at the LFS, I thought it was pregnant. My platy with Ick, and my molly with pop-eye both are ok now I think. I just dont know whats going on! |

LOL, Aeromonas hydrophilia again, common as muck infection this one, only infection I know that caused both pop eye and swollen bacterially infected guts. Heavy melafix or antibiotics time. Info should all be in the disease profiles. Sorry about the slow response, I missed the post. If you use antibiotics make sure youre ready for the consequences of a filter crash. Hopefully though, if the pop eye is fading , most of the ambient aeromonas will be dead. Be prepared to keep it up with the melafix for a while though, maybe a repeat dose. Do necessary water changes regardless of the instructions on the melafix though, you can always top it up again if you need to, its just that high nitrates might cause as much pop-eye trouble as aeromonas will anyway. The water cleanliness and aeromonas infections are usually connected anyway. You can keep levels of peropheral infections low by making sure you do plenty of water changes in most cases. Combo of melafix and clean water should see the end of it. |
