Can fish live long with swim bladder problems?

The gourami in my dads tank has it (im assuming)

I moved a gourami out of my tank, and put it in my dads, and my dads tried to chase it, but it couldnt, cuz it would always float to the top.. it can keep its balance tho, which is why i dont think it could be swim bladder.

Put it this way, when he isnt moving, he is floating at the top of the tank.

But, I have seen him sleep at night, and he is at the bottom of the tank, like nothing is wrong.. anyone got any ideas?

When the fish is floating, is it on its side or does it "float" upright at the surface of the water? Gouramis are surface-dwelling fish, so they will spend time hanging around at the top.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
