That's what I used to get rid of the Ick in my 20g Tiger Barb species tank. It took awhile but I finally got rid of it. |

The info I posted came from the Disease profile here at FP. Here is what I bought today. Ich Attack by Novalek 100% organic, Active Ingredients 5% Naphthoquinone 95% Inactive Ingredients btw it has spread to the Rainbows. Later in the week I am ordering a Submersible UV Sterilizer to add into the tank. mts.gif" border="0"> I vote do you? My Tanks at Photobucket |

Now, ich isn't a bacterium, but I checked the MSDS for naphthoquinone and it is some pretty heavy stuff (read: ultra-toxic in pure form, not to mention teratogenic). Apparently it inhibits mitotic division, so it shouldn't allow the ich to multiply, but at the dosages it is recommending it shouldn't be toxic to the fish, in theory. |

Posts: 542 Kudos: 330 Votes: 355 Registered: 28-May-2007 | Logan/Jim- I'd hit the LFS and grab a formaline/malachite green ba With that med, take out anything in your decor that can be stained, sometimes it will leave some green streaks on rocks or substrate. Of course, remove the carbon filter media. My medication suggested a 25% WC every three treatment days, I backed off and did smaller WC less often. The white spots finally went away, and I treated 1.5 weeks after I saw the last spot. I put the carbon back in and was able to add fish after a couple days... All has been well for a few weeks now in the tank. Also, I didnt have any live plants when I was medicating so I am not sure how the formaline/malchite green ba Good luck man, it's definitely a patience thing, and a big time drag. I hope you don't lose any fish. |

As of today there are no spots visible. I am going to keep up with this for about a week and by friday I will have the UV steriliser ordered and it will be in in about one more week. mts.gif" border="0"> I vote do you?
