I just did my weekly w/c and noticed small (about 1cm) thin white worms wiggling through the water!

Does anyone know what these are ?

i posted this thread a few days ago
http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/threads/27211.1.htm?2#

could these worms have been the problem?

water parameters are:

Ph 8
Nitrite 0
Kh 4dH
Gh 8dH
ammonia 1
nitrate 20ppm

Tank is 55g stocked with 3 peacock cichlids (and 8 fry) 1
bn 1 electric yellow and 2 yellow top mbambas

thanks

i've seen them in my sisters ten gallon tank, i know that they proliferate due to uneaten food in the gravel are you cleaning your gravel?

thanks for the link zarrar!
sounds like planaria ... i do weekly w/c as well
but im thinking it could be due to a fish that recently died.

Wil keep up the water changes as see how that goes!

It could be anchor worms... I'd use a copper based parasite treatment (I believe Mardel makes a good one) and turn up the heater to like 83ish.

washing gravel and vacuuming are the same as I use the terms I asked because the vacuuming will remove a large amount of uneaten foods.

planeria are not directly harmful to the fish
anchor worms are direct parasites

have you seen any of your worms attached to any fish?

ok it doesnt appear to be anchor worms as i cannot see any hanging from any wounds.. except for my yellow lab which appaers to have something extruding from its anus.. it appeared as a reddish bulge last nite and has grown this morning into a massive bulge ...

what would this be and how should i treat it?
