Weird Acting Cherry Barb | |

The tank is cycled with 0 ammonia, trace nitrites (due to gravel and filter being overcleaned ), and 20ppm nitrates. The pH is 6.8 and the temp is 78 degress. All fish in the tank seem okay except on female cherry barb. She hides under a plant close to the bottom and rarely comes out. I haven't seen her eat in a while either. There are no visible disease symptoms on her. All the other cherry barbs swim and play and look like they're having the time of their lives, but she looks so sad.....could this just be her personality---shy and not playful---or could she have something wrong with her? If so, what can I do for her? "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |

Do you notice any movement- does she swim a little close to the plants or just stay in one place? Are her fins spread or clamped? http://www.fishprofiles.com/site/aquarank.aspx |

I finally saw her come out and play today. All fins are perfect--not clamped. I didn't see her eat last night, but I know she did because 5 minutes after feeding them frozen brine shrimp her tummy was fat! She's just terribly shy, I think. She's cute as a button and her color is just as perfect as the other 2 really outgoing females, I think she's just a loner and a hider. Poor little thing, maybe today is an indication that she'll get over it. Thanks!!! "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |
