A new fish added to the tank three weeks ago. Some fish showing signs of Ich. I treated, waited the 24 hours as directed, did a water change and treated again since fish still showing some white spots, scraping, etc... I noticed that the snook and dempsey are clamping their tails. This is not normal for them. I believe that I need to treat with a parasite med. Since I just dosed with the Ich med, can I wait the 24 hours, do a water change and treat with something for parasites? The fish did not cost a lot at the time, but I have had them for years!

I know of no ich meds that will cure ich in 24 hours so it's reasonable to still see signs of ich. Most medications take a week to complete.

Clamped fins are likely a result of stress from either the ich or the medications. You'd see other signs if it was parasites. I'd complete the ich treatment first.

24 hours on the second dose will be up @ 6:00 PM. Should I treat again? The meds say that you can treat every 24 hours if you do the water change. With no filter (bio wheel) I am concerned about water condition.

No filter? Why would there be no filter?

Follow the directions, you 'll likely need to treat at least a week. Ich can only be treated by the meds after the cysts fall off the fish, which is why you need to treat for so long.

I had to remove the filter cartridges as they have carbon. The wheel is still running. Left the meds in. Will see what happens.

Ah okay now I've caught up .

Since you said no filter I had assumed you removed the entire box :%) not just the filter pads containing the carbon. Have you tested for ammonia today? ( Does that sound like a bumper sticker to anyone else ?) If you notice the fish gasping or gulpin at the surface right before lights on add an airstone if there's not one running already.
