There is a colony of little white dots living on my aquarium glass. They move around fairly rapidly. My tank is still cycling, but I know it has too many fish in it. I did a partial water change today.

The dots appear just below an area where bubbles gather on my surface but they aren't bubbles. When I rubbed them off the glass they sank. It is also part of the tank that gets the most light.

Will this stuff hurt my fish? How can I get rid of it?

Heya,

Don't be to alarmed....I believe it is a type of algae!!
You have freshwater tank right??

EDIT
Sorry had to run out for a sec. I believe it is a type of algae and nothing too threatening. Best advice is to put some curtains etc up so the tank isn't getting to much sunlight.
Secondly, give some of those fish away so you tank isn't overloaded.

Put up your water parameters and the fish you keep etc and others will be able to help you out further!!!

They are probably ostracods and are totally harmless. I am not aware of any easy way to get rid of them, copper treatments should do it but they can be harmful to fish, plants and any other invertebrates in the tank. Some fish will eat them. The only problem with them as far as I'm concerned is that they look ugly. Don't worry about it too much, you may want to try not feeding your fish for a few days and see if they'll eat them.
