Hi all
just a quick question i got a small outbreak of white spot (all this damm weather flux's here atm).
when i started treating the white spot it was on water change day and i didnt do it should i wait till i have finished with the meds before changing water? by that time it will be almost 2 weeks since last change.

You can do a water change while medicating, just be sure to add in the ammount of meds that you removed.

Temperature fluctuations are the reason you should have a heater in the tank and have it set high enough that it wont fluctuate...too much .

theres a heater in there and set right.... its the weather here its very hot during day and drops very low at night this time of year.

Right which is why the heater needs to be set high enough that it will turn on before the temp drops too far down

Leaving the lights off for some time during the and making sure you keep the room as cool as possible will enable you to set the temp lower. Remember a heater isnt really to heat the tank but to maintain the temperature. So if the tank gets up to 89F during the day you should have it set to 88F....Make sure you have as much surface agitation as possible as well since higher temps mean less oxygen in the water.

I've been there...every year we get up into the 90's and so does the tank. I take that into account when I pick my fish ...they have to be able to handle temps from 60-90 :%).

Yes there are things such as chillers, they're only a few hundered dollers, however they're quite inefficient and therefore use a lot of power.
