I added a new guppy to my tank a while ago, a female that i was overcharged for because of colorfull finnage, and she bullied my only 2 males, nipping their fins and chasing them. One died because of fin damage, and not being able swim well, and stress. the other one is still alive but just bareley. i gave the bully to a friend, but i will have to take her back, but, the last male had a clamped fin and was having a hard time swimming so i put him in the breeding net to rest. i figured i should let him into the main tank cause i thought the net would have stressed him even more, so i released him to the rest of the tank before i went to bed. in the morning i looked but couldnt find him, so i figured he was dead. later i thought he might be under the decorative bridge i had in the tank. sure enought, he was there, and to my surprize, alive.

he must have been stuck in a C shape and i have waited 5 days and still no better. he wont flatten out and all he does in float near the surface stuch in a C shape. i dont know if he eats, but i thought he would have died by now... Do u know how i might be able to fix him? he is the last male left from my first guppies' birth, and he is kind of specail. Sooooo.... any ideas? i will let u know what happens....

What came first? the chicken or the egg? No really.....

Thats a tricky one to decipher, if there was no disease transmission involved ( guppies do vary in resistances being such a massively captive raised fish, and it is possibly a protozoan or bacterial pathogen causing clamped fins and spinal curvature, and this could have been introduced with the new guppy ) I assume your guppy must have recieved a spinal or neurological injury while trying to escape an aggressive specimen.

Shock could also be a factor. Fish in shock may be martyrs to muscle spasms and cramps, possibly explaining the "c" shape, and again theres not a lot to be done. With shock, the longer it goes on usually the worse the prognosis becomes, with the circulatory retreat being so complete the fish may never be able to supply its muscles with enough blood to ever unclench them. Unfortunately outside of steriodal treatments which are not commonly available for fish, there is little you can do outside of keeping him in warm stable conditions and hope that he has the ability to heal his own wounds.

Sometimes the will to live is paramount having got through a disturbing time, and theres nothing like a little livefood to stimulate a fish into doing something other than kicking the bucket.

Euthanisation in this situation is probably not a requirement, when guppies expire they usually do so quickly. Keep him warm, dark, and offer him foods that will stimulate him, and severely limit your interaction with him. Most of the chemical stress aids at this point will make little difference and he either makes it or he doesnt. Avoid touching or shocking him at all costs.

In answer to your title, im sorry to say, yes, its probable that he will die, but thats no reason to give up, and he might just surprise you. Hopefully anyway.

Not much help I know, but good luck.
