well, couple days ago i noticed sometimes they hang out near the surface of the water. now i see some of them have a little bit of rotted fins, and occasionally they'll dash around the tank like they are on something, some of them dash into plants like its an enemy. this kinda dashing doesnt look right to me, just really worried.

its not the oxygen shortage because they dont hang out on top before lights come on, but sometimes they'll go up there and looks like its trying to EAT air...

i want to get them cured before they get into deeper trouble, this and plus some algea are creeping up on me, and my 4 otos dont seem to be able to keep up the paste. i turned some lights off to reduce some stress, and i dont have a hospital tank, so i guess i'll go do more research now.

That's usually an indicator of high ammonia or nitrates...

Even though your tank is planted, nitrates can still be a factor.

Tests should be done to discover the cause.

k, just did about 25-30 % change, will probably do another one tomorrow, hope they will stop being ill.

2 of them are getting worse, the other 2 seems to be ok. still eat happily, seems a little aggresive sometimes.

the two that are getting worse have their top fins rotted a bit, but the rest seems to be minor.
