![]() | are white spots deadly? |
DROWZY![]() Small Fry Posts: 3 Kudos: 1 Votes: 0 Registered: 20-Jun-2004 ![]() ![]() | i had around 6 cichlids. then i bought 2 new ones. however, they all died except for one of the 6 original cichlids. I noticed a white spot on its fin. Could this disease have been the cause of the death of the other 7 cichlids i had? |

Half of them died with white spots, the other showed symptoms of a disease because they kept coming to the surface of the water for air. However, there is one fish left, and i believe that it is the carrier of both because it is the only one still alive. |

If fish in the tank had ick previously, even if they die, the ick is still there and you still need to treat the tank. Ick has a life cycle, it goes from egg to parasite to free swimming, I don't know the exact order, but what I'm getting at is that even if you don't see any spots on the fish now, the ick is lurking, and will lurk until you kill it! Hope that helps ![]() |

(do not stop meds at this point) After the last spot is gone, clean the tank interior, the inner glass, the decor, then a shallow gravel vac. This will help get rid of icks in their free-swimming stage. Continue to med the tank for 7 days after the last spot is visible. The Amazon Nut... |
