I bought a quarter sized angel at the LFS. He was getting picked on so bad that he has stubs for ventrals and about half a fin on the one side. I know the fin will grow back, I just wonder if the ventrals will? He is adjusting beautifully in my tank with 2 other angels, eats well and seems happy. Just curious about ventral regeneration...

Is there anybody out there with angelfish experience?

Maybe I should have posted on the new world cichlid site?

I applaud your efforts to heal this fish, it may heal, it may not. For fins to regenerate, there usually must be some original fin left.

Some Melafix may help prevent anything from settling into the wound, such as fungus.

Good luck !

MelaFix should do the trick. The only problem I see is that it may have awkward looking fins when it grows up. The fins may grow back odd and affect him for the rest of his life. However, this is better that having him die from being beat up.
