It's difficult to diagnose common bloat from a bacterial infection called Dropsy...

If the scales of the fish are not pineconed there may be a chance the fish, as mentioned in other posts, is merely constipated.

Watch for fish droppings to determine and treat with a squashed skinless pea or two if required.

Peas may, in some situations, relieve constipation...

The pea is squashed, skin removed and fed to the fish.

To treat correctly the fish is starved for three days and the peas fed after that.

There's still a chance, and a good one, that Dropsy is the problem, not constipation.

Consider better filtration, more frequent water changes, half gravel cleaning and testing...

Water quality plays a large role in fish health.

A variety of high quality fish food is recommended.
