One teaspoon clove oil per liter should be enough for overdose...wait until gills aren't moving anymore and then wait a little while longer to make sure. The other recipie I know is 1 ml of clove oil per gallon of water ( give or take).. when fish flops to its side " knocked out" administer 9 to 10 ml of pure vodka, which will kill it. It's already knocked out from the clove oil and won't feel it, theoretically. This way is cheaper, as cheap vodka is cheaper than the cheapest clove oil. I've never had to euthanize a fish, but I have researched it just in case. Interesting read: http://www.ivis.org/advances/Anesthesia_Gleed/bowser/chapter_frm.asp?LA=1 |
