I'm so sorry you had this experience. How old was he? Maybe his immunity dropped with age as it so often does. They just don't have the ability to fight things off. Have any other fish in your tank had this? |

A good many live 3-5. Poor thing must have injured himself and then got stressed somehow. Or, there may have been parasites. Where were the patches? Also, what are you putting in the tank? |
fishyhelper288![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | the patches were on his body and fins, eventually he had trouble swimming so i put him in a net so he dident have to support himself, i did a partial water change today, because although i want the meds in there, i dont want the tank to get dirty and to invite other dieses in all the fish are doing great, and i even had a guppy give birth and he was with a very shy female betta, and before he died like the day before i had put 2 more females in there, and when he got sick they never left his side and one of the females was always by his head, just stairing at him, another tryed to pick the fuzz off of him, it wasnt a bite, she just slowly grabded ahold of it, then spit it out, i think they all understood he was on his way out EDIT: and i have those jungle tabs in it, and he never realy paid much mind to any female, thats why i had them in there, there was no aggression between them at all Last edited by fishyhelper288 at 06-Feb-2005 18:24 |

If the other fish were picking at the fuzz, they are at risk for a columnaris infection. It is highly contagious without such activity. Watch them closely and continue with your round of Jungle meds. |
