This is Rosie, whose favorite game is to sneak into the RTBS/BN cave and hide there until the RTBS notices her. Then of course he chases her out; she's quicker and has her own hiding places...waits there for a bit then starts the whole thing over again

Not anymore. Apparently the RTBS had enough sometime between lights out yesterday and feeding time today and did quite a job on her fins

I'm going to move her to a 2.5g and treat her with Melafix...is there anything else I can do to help her? I've never had a fish with such bad fin damage, what are the chances of her fins actually growing back fully?

Here's the poor girl in her new hiding spot:

This one very clearly shows how bad her fins are:

I think melafix and clean water are definitely the way to go, I have had other fish grow their fins back and melafix is excellent at healing fish

Good Luck honey, poor little girl

It will probably grow to a certain extent but I'm not sure if it will fully grow again, although there's a possibility.

I would also add some salt on top of the melafix. There's a dispute whether salt helps or not, but in my experience it does help and in any case, it can cause no harm.

I feel for you.

A similiar incident happened in my tank - to my new first ever fancy crowntail - Orion.

But dont worry, you have the right stuff. The fins will grow back to ALMOST full beauty again. Orion's fins were shorter than the above and in about 6 weeks he was happy as a fish in water (ok that one was bad)

Hope this comforts you. Beautifull betta by the way

regards,
achilles
