hey ppl...last night i realised that there are a few spots on my yoyos and clowns..i used half of the recommended dosage and removed the carbon filter...but..according to the instructions on the bottle, it says repeat the treatment every 24 hours until the white spots are gone...i dont know what type of medication is that...its blue...they did not state the contents at all...should i repeat the treatment without changing the water?im afraid that the loaches cannot stand it..those guys are doing quite well now,but the yoyos hv a few spots left...they are feeding fine...so, what should i do?repeat treatment without changing the water or not?thank you

ckk125,

Before I get into details, do you have the name of the med that you used?

If not, what was the recommended dosage?

ckk125,

I found a website link to a company that is called Hong Tai Aquarium Products Pte Ltd

In the summary, it states “RID-ALL ANTI-ICH, RID-ALL ANTI-ICH Destroys the ICH ("white spots" Parasites effectively within 24 hours and within 3 days for persistent cases. ...”

Unfortunately, their website (http://www.hongtai.com.sg/) is defunct and the web address hongtai.com is for sale. I didn’t see any other information on this product.

Let’s assume that is what you have. I would dose as you did, make a 20% water change the next day, and (only if it required) treat with 1/2 the dose again the following day, followed by a 20% water change the next day again. And so forth for up to 2 weeks.

As soon as your fishies show signs of distress, stop.

Fist off, I hope you removed the activated carbon filter (if you had one). What is your water temperature?

Let’s hope that we get more opinions during the day (here in the US).

Hope this helps,

Ingo

its at 28 celcius now...i did a 50% water change and put half of the 50% dosage...there is 2 or 3 spots left on my yoyo's tail...the clowns have completely recovered....this is going to be my last treatment i hope...anyway...the LFS in my country is horrible..they do not provide any information at all...all they know is that if the fish's picture is on the bottle...thats the right medication..btw,u mean signs of distress=loaches not feeding and colour fading?currently, they are digging the gravel for food..is that a good sign?they bands are quite dark as well.thank you for ur advice...i really appreciate it..

ckk125,

No problem, glad I could help a little. One day you will be able to help me

You say that this is your last treatment. Wasn’t it also your first?
And when did you do the 50% water change, before or after the treatment? If after, what time has passed between treatment and water change?

Even if you do not see signs off Ich anymore on your fishies, it is still there and you should continue to treat for a few more days (as described above). I would strongly suggest that you read through [link=This Post]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/General%20Freshwater/59949.html?200507090755" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link] that our friend Keith posted here at the forum (if you haven’t done this already). It explains in detail that the dots are only part of the Ich cycle.

Hope this helps,

Ingo

oh...today is the 2nd treatment...im worried that the loaches might not be able to stand so many days of treatment..the time between the 1st treatment and the 2nd one is around 14 hours...because the 1st treatment was done early in the morning..around 2 am..hmm...so, u suggest that i should continue half of the dosage for at least a few days?i treated my arowana with ich before...but not loaches...thats why im alil bit conservative...thank you very much

25-50% water change daily and repeat medication after every 24 hours. Also, increase oxygenation in the water using a bubble wall or an airstone. Keep biological filteration working and increase the temperate a degree a day to 30 degrees.

I have loaches too and live in India and know how helpless the lack of proper medication can make you feel.

Good luck
