are livebearers less restiant to diceases. i got a trio of green swords and then were put into my tank with mollys and they got ich. my mollys also had ich but not at the same time. i have been noticing that all of my livebearers are getting ich alot, or until they are use to my tank/water.

It's not that livebearers in general are less resistant to diseases, it that they are some of the most inbred fish in the hobby. Inbreeding weakens their immune systems, and this has become a major problem in the past 10 years.

Earlier in the hobby, when the livebearer stock was "fresher", they were considered to be very hardy and excellent beginner's fish. Nowadays, that is hardly the case; these fish seem to develop ich and die from it after being exposed to even the most mild of discomforts.

I've only lost one fish from ich, and it was a platy. At work, if the livebearers get sick, the death rate is usually like 20x higher than that of wild-caught fish with the same illness.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Maybe you are not introducing your new fish well in your aquarium? If you are doing it in a haste, maybe you should take a lot more time when introducing new fish in order to alow them to aclimatize better to the temperature of your water as well as the new water itself. Also make sure that when you make water changes, the new water introduced is as close to the temperature of the water in the aquarium. I know this is not always easy, but try not to have new water introduced with temperature less than 1 C of the water you already have in the aquarium. Lastly if you have only livebearers in your aquarium you should consider adding aquarium salt as it seems that they like it and it helps a bit with ick.
