To my knowledge, when fish seriously fight they go for the eye of the other fish because it is their weakest point.

I would assume that your fish has a wound on his eye that now got infected and fungi is developing.

As to how to treat that, I don't know as I never had that problem.

Chances are Little_Fish is right...

If it is a fungus then you are going to need to get a medication to treat for this, otherwise it can become more serious...

Jungle makes a good antibiotic fish food to help treat the fish from the inside, while making sure he still eats...most people find this at petsmart, just your lfs

As for treating the water you might want to try getting some Maracyn from Mardel Labs...or something similar...treat as the directions say...

Also you are going to need to think about seperating these two bullies or something you don't want to have to keep going through this time and time again, just because they can't get along...So what size of tank are they housed in? If it is a large enough tank, what kind of hiding holes/caves have you created so that the agressor and agressee can do the "out of sight out of mind" act, thus deferring the aggression?

You are either going to need to get another tank, or create plenty of hiding spots with rocks/driftwood and plants...I'm in hope that it is large enough to be able to solve the problem with creating the hiding places...

Keep in mind in case you didn't already know your [link=convict]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/convict.xml" style="COLOR: #FF1493[/link] will be about 8 inches full grown, and your [link=red devil]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/truereddevil.xml" style="COLOR: #FF1493[/link] can reach almost a foot in length, so you will easily need a 55 gallon tank, soon if not already

Best of luck and hope it helps, heidi

Put something in for fungal treatment, should have an erythromycin base. We get terramycin in India, I think the equivalent in the US is melafix or something. No dyes, because this maybe an open wound, so eventho Methyl and other dye meds are fast acting, u need more of an antibiotic. Look for erythromycin in the list of components.
