I started out with all these fish in my 30 gallon:

3x flame tetras
6x neon tetras
3x platies
7x zebra dwarf danios
4x peppered corys
1x ram
1x red tailed black shark

I was going to move the dwarf zebra danios once they grew.

Anyways, I have ick or whitespot ive seen it called both things. Now i have:

1x neon tetra
2x flame tetras
1x platies
0x ram
7x zebra dwarf danios (theyre hanging tough)
4x peppered corys (they wont die theyre catfish
1x black tail shark

I lost NINE fish in about 3 days AND im sure i will lose more. So i did a waterchange yesterday and added a few table spoons of aquarium salt (supposed to improve gill function help with sicknesses) And then i put that aquarisol in my tank, but hopefully the deaths will stop. My LFS told me to get aquarisol and i did today was my second full dosage that my tank got. I will give it to them tomorrow.

I sorry about your losses...but to lose so many in so short an amount of time is puzzling me
what were your water parameters prior to the water change.
ammonia, nitrite, nitrate ect.
were all the fish that died exhibiting the whitespot/ick.
do you have a Quarentine Tank? QT
how long was the tank stocked with these many fish...I'm hoping you know that you were over stocked (text book wise)

Badgers034 you had an (Ammonia spike) your (biofilter was taxed)
2x platies
3x Flame tetras
1x red tailed shark
7x zebras
4x peppered corys is what u had in your tank according to your post of a couple of days ago 3/2/2006
http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/threads/27438.1.htm?2#

it appears u added
6 neons
1 ram
1 platty if this is the case then you r more than likely the victim of an ammonia spike.
what type of filter are you using... you're not the first to fall victim to this I just got over the same thing I added to many fish to soon to to small of a tank
In My Humble Opinion go get some "ammolock", "AmQuel" or "Prime" to immediately detoxify the ammonia, and save your fish, it did for me.
*Note ammolock will give false ammonia readings when used but it will detoxify the ammonia.

Don't add salt to the tank. It's really bad for most of the fish you have in there. That could actually be a factor as to why they are not doing too well.

Are you adding ich medication? That's the only thing you need to be putting into the tank if your fish only have ich. Use it at half-strength because the tetras and catfish are sensitive to it.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

ok, well im glad you told me about the salt.I am adding an ich medication called aquarisol. And the ich seems to be diminishing. And I increased my water temperature to 85 like the box said.

Hi there,
the ich medicine you are using, Aquarisol,
contains the ingredient Copper Salts.
Copper can be hazardous to many fish,
espescially red tail sharks and cory cats.
It can prove lethal in fact.
Copper is never removed from your tank once
it is in there too. It adheres to surfaces such
as glass, rocks, and plants, and decor.
I would discontinue the use of the copper
and salt, and do some good water changes, say
3- 50% changes over 5-6 days time.
Treat the ich by raising the water temp 1 degree
per 4-5 hours to 82-84F.
Get a good ich med safe for scaleless fish such
as your corys and rtbs.
Heres two products that would work
very well with your fish
Kent Marine RX-P (my fave ich med)
Kordon Rid Ich Plus

For future reference make sure that you get a test kit and check the water quality at least every couple of weeks. Without a test kit you simply wont know whats going on, how the performance of your filter measures up or what your water change regime should be. Also it would give you an almost immediate reference point to be able to eliminate toxic shock from ammonia or nitrate poisoning, and therefore be able to react with greater speed and accuracy to bacterial and fungal complaints. It has to be worth the cost for anyone with more than just a few fish, and should still be considered useful, even if you only have one fish.
