One of the things that would make life difficult is ich in a planted aquarium. I recall a TFH article *puts on her best Cali face* where a woman had that exact problem, and the plants were way to delicate to medicate or to raise the temperature to something intolerable. She ended up quarantining the main tank (I believe she raised the temp a little) and doing big water changes on the fish. From memory she didn't medicate them, just kept changing the environment to reduce the population of parasites. Seemed to work pretty well too (but it looked like way too much work!)

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

i dont know all of you talking about these medications that work wonders and such. i havent had a fish tank for quite some time now . about a year and a half my current living situation prevents me from having one
thouhg when i did have one i rarly used meds i added some salts and then turned up the heat a little bit to about 98f the salt worked wonders it prevents breakouts and helps the fish stay healthy the heat kills the infections espicaly ick

Gabe,
salt can be lethal to some fish,
so can temps of 98 degrees.
If I turned my tank up to 98 degrees I guarantee
you I would lose HALF or more of my fish.
With ICH you should turn the tank up to 88 degrees,
not 98.
Youre very lucky your fish are still alive.
