is their another sickness causing popped scales that is not drospy?

here the story:
i had a female rosy barb, that i was moving with other fish, from one tank to anotehr via a small holding tank. so i add the fishes to the tank and moved them. i placed the tank inside the other to adjust the water, and !!!!

she started to spazz out. jolting all over, and she just kept spazzing, but when i looked at her, it look as if her scales just poped out like drospy, but i know for a fact that she didn't, and she was only in the holding tank for like a min, and with other fish that are fine.

does spazzing like that make scales pop out as well.

also is their a way to pop the scales back in, kinda a dumb question but i hate to see popped scales, gives me the chills.

All I can say is that I know that dropsy is a symptom, not a disease. I'm pretty sure it's related to an internal bacterial infection. I'm not sure about the spazzing though.

yep dropsy is a symptom not a disease.
It can be caused by a bacterial infection,
by an infection of the kidneys,
or because the fish is taking on excess fluid
- the same as edema in people .
An epsom salt bath may help, and treatment with
tetracyline or maracyn 2 has been known to be effective.

However, most fish that develop dropsy do not survive.
Best of luck with your fish Chris.

i dont think it is drospy, as the fish was fine a minute ago, but when it started spazzing the first thing i noticed was the scales were poped. which i didn't notice when i moved the fish, or when it was in its orgin tank. what is odd the time period was less than 5 mins.
