deschazkody Hobbyist Posts: 119 Kudos: 110 Votes: 77 Registered: 25-Jun-2005 | hey i have a very sick convict she was fine up to a couple of days ago she started geting a white film around her mouth checked the water per alls fine now its spread to her fins mostly back fin i did a water change and started a round of melafix so far she still just stays in one spot the white film is no worse but no better ether is ther any more i can do:#(:#( |

The white on the mouth could be sores from battles over dominance. Convicts establish dominance by locking lips and pulling. This often results in torn lips, but no severe damage to the fish. If the white on the fins looks like it could be bite marks, it is most likely the new dominant fish asserting its power. This behavior tends to go away after a week. Good Luck! |

Once the mother stops looking after the fry, they should be big enough for you to put the male back in. Just make sure they fry have enough places to hide incase the male and female try to breed again and become aggressive. |
