![]() | sick panda cories |
cynical![]() Hobbyist Posts: 56 Kudos: 36 Votes: 0 Registered: 18-Aug-2005 ![]() ![]() | I've got some panda cories, and i've had a couple keel over recently. the first 2 showed no signs of any illness, just suddenly dropped off. but the last one i saw struggling to swim, and lying on his side. Tank details: 20g long. moderately planted, rock caves and driftwood. (plenty of spots to hide) tankmates. 12 neons, 3 swordtails (2 fem, 1 male) 2 BN (2.5" ![]() params: ammo - 0 nitrite - 0 nitrate - 10ppm PH - 6.8 KH - 5 GH - no test kit. temp. 25deg C ok, so here are my current ideas on whats going on, the drift wood went in just before i had my first death, but it has been nearly a month between deaths, and no other fish has died or even shown any signs of illness. second idea is my stress, my swordtails are rather rough, the male chases anything he can find, and nips at anything he can catch, i dont see him get the pandas too often, but i assume being chased all the time would stress them out. but what confused me the most is that all my other pandas are still happily doing what they do best, playing around the filter jet, up and down the back glass, and hiding about in the plants together. Cheers for all your help.. Cynical. Last edited by cynical at 27-Oct-2005 00:33 Last edited by cynical at 27-Oct-2005 00:33 |

I lost all my albino over a few months time back in early summer (US summer anyway ![]() I had to (unfortunatly) put it down to substrate. The only thing I could think of was that they'd gotten their inquisitive noses in a pocket of anerobic bacteria despite my maintence and malasyian trumpet snails. You mentioned the tank was planted so I'm assuming you dont use sand but how large of a substrate do you have? Long blind shot in the dark I'm sure ![]() ![]() ![]() ^_^[hr width='90%']"in any case, chocolate is hardly a rare comodity." said Chaos. "There are planets covered in the stuff" REALLY? "Indeed."
