I need help! 3 to 4 weeks ago, my papa swordtail fish tried to commit suicide down the overflow of my 55 gallon tank. I have no idea how long he was down there (no more than 18 hrs though) He was at the bottom of the tank where the over flow dumps into the drain to go into the wet-dry filter. There is probably 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness of water there. Not much though! Well anyways, we flushed him out into a bucket and got him back into the tank. He ripped his right fin and scrapped his side. A couple weeks later, he started acting really weird. He would swim straight up into the return water from the wet-dry filter and do like a back flip almost. now he keeps doing it more and more. He seems to stop when it comes to eating time but not all the way! I have been feeding them regular flake food and frozen brine shrimp, and I also hatched my own brine shrimp a couple of times, but that was a long time ago!
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
John

Not easy to diagnose because different fish react differently to possible parasitic infestation...

Some will swim constantly up and down one end of the tank while others will choose the filter flow to bob up and down in.

Some fish being harassed by another fish will seek a way out of harm's way and will become overly active in strange ways.
