anyway,we trust the lfs, all fish we have had before have been fine. so put the fish straight in main tank - naive, yes prob. anyway we did - he looked fine in bag. we have since - thanks to cup of life, noticed the whitespot.

should we treat in this tank, or is it still early enought o move him to the third tank, where there arent as many fish to affect?? if we leave him, how best to treat, given the other fish in the tank (stocking can be seen on profile). any help appreciated, thanks

If it is white spot, then it may be a good idea to treat the main tank as well, just in case any spores have already dropped off. You can treat it with a copperbased medecine, but it may not be a good idea if you have certain plants or inverts which are sensitive to copper.

Not sure, but I think I read somewhere that certain catfish are also sensitive to copper.

The cories should be fine. We treated for ich on some rasbora's while they were in the tank, though I am not sure about any other catfish.

Using Nox-Ich I've had no problems with corys or bristlenoses in the tank but that's using half dosage.

one of our matae cories now has the dreaded white spots, second dose of treatment added today, next dose due on thursday following the instructions.
how long should it take before the meds take effect? when should we start seeing some improvement, or at least prevent any further spread?

I'd normally expect results in a couple days and completely cleared after 3 days.
