I have two false Julli Corys that I absolutely love and one of them is acting really strange. it dashes up to the surface and then starts thrashing around and swimming upside down, then just kinda floats for a while. then it goes back down to the bottom and acts perfectly normally. it has now done this three times (that i've noticed) in the past hour or so, and it has never behaved this way before. They both occasionally swim to the surface and go back down again, which i've heard is normal for corys, but I'm really worried about them right now, cause this can't be normal. i posted the same problem in the hospital section, but no one has responded yet and i'm really concerned. i also have details about my tank in "strange deaths", also in the hospital forum. I don't know if this is related to what i wrote about in that post, but i hope someone can help me.

My peppered cories do the same thing 2 out of the 8 do it and have been kicking for about 2 months, i cant explain it but they are still living, but mine float upside down for about 5 secs kinda looks like they are playin dead, then after that they go about their normal life

that's slightly reassuring, but it still seems really strange because i've never seen it happen before. thanks for keeping me from having a heart attack though.

i just noticed that my cory is also breathing very rapidly and it won't sit still. it hovers over the bottom and won't settle down and rest at all. i'm still pretty concerned.

Have you improved your water parameters? I noticed in your other thread that you had small amounts of ammonia and nitrite in your tank, which is what could be making your fish do this.

Corys, being scaleless fish, are very sensitive to chemicals and toxins in the water.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

i woke up this morning to find my beloved cory Eugiene dead. I'm working very hard to get my tank problems straightened out, and hopefully I can save my other cory. thanks for your replies.
