ok.

For the past few days, my monitor has been flickering whenever I come back from power save mode...not fast fliockering, but it turns off every few seconds and then comes back right away. That usually stops after 5 or so minutes.

But today when I woke up, I went to take my monitor out of power save mode....nothing. I turn the monitor off then back on...nothing. I hit the computer reset button....nothing. So I hold the power button and turn it back on and it works (finally).

Only one little detail...

My monitir now had a purple hue to everything. I am at this moment browsing the web with pretty much a purple monitor. All the colors are off and whatever is white is now purple.

Does anyone have any idea on whats going on? My monitor is only 1 1/2 years old and it hasn't even been used every day (due to being grounded sometimes)

This just started. I think it is an LED monitor, but I can't think of how it would decide to die on me after only 1 1/2 years useage

Any ideas?

Er, it sounds cactus dude.

I assume you have checked power plugs and it is correctly plugged in?

Got Warranty?

Pat,

Say goodbye to your monitor as it will for sure some time soon give up on you.

A color tint in itself is not such a major problem; I had one with a green tint for years. But the constant on - off is for sure not good.

But hey, maybe you proof me wrong

Pat, an LED monitor??? I think you mean LCD? Or is it one of them CRT monitors?? Try going into the settings and adjusting brightness contrast hue and saturation and what not. It could have reset itself or something?

I have tried adjusting the setting and the hues, but nothing works...if you wish to see whats wrong here is a picture http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v190/boredom_king1212/problem.jpg

Though you may want to wear sun glasses before viewing.

[edit]it is quite a big picture which is why i didn't directly post it

[edit again] By the way, it is a "TFT LCD" monitor.

As for flickering, electromagnetic interference sometimes bothers monitors, so if you find something nearby that could be causing that (eg. a friend had a transformer causing it... flourescent room lighting can do it too). I don't know if it would cause the color to be off, I guess unless it was near an electromagnetic source for a while. (it looks like you're out of green pixels)

Yay!!!!!

It works again!

I unhooked it to see if it was a graphics card problem and it worked on my brothers computer. Hooked it back up to mine so I could attempt to fix the graphics card (rolling back the drivers) and the monitor was working fine without doing anything, but plugging it back in!

I think maybe something loosened the plug because the screws weren't screwed in all the way.

Anyway, my computer and monitor are fine

And the only thing I could think of that might be magnetic or something would be my subwoofer under my computer desk.

LF...it's fixed...nothing is wrong at all now.

The cable was losely plugged in which we (my dad and I) think may have caused interference and the pruple hue...and LCD monitors don't just wear out in a years time.

Yeah, I was going to suggest checking your cables too - I remember my old monitor often had that colour tint and every time it was the cable being loose.
