[font color="#C00000"] Yikes.

SPeaking of big fish and all...There is this lake nearby to where where I live, and it's quite the hot lake. Literally! I guess it's a runoff from this Power Plant and it's funny because the fish that live in it are usually deformed and strange acting/looking. So it's really interesting to go fishing there sometimes. Plus, sometimes people in this area just don't take care of their fish, get bored with them, and then dump them in this lake. Which is quite sad, but it's like a giant tropical aqarium....

My dad was sent a picture of this one fish caught out there, and it's rather odd. It looks like it has human teeth--it's about as big as the lid on a 15-20 gallon bucket, and there is one picture that is comparing it to a Pleco that was caught also. The pleco is huge! I'll try to post some pics on it--if my dad saved it in his e-mail .

I'll have to say they're pretty close to adult size. Pseudoplatysoma fasciatum, P. tigrinum, and P. coruscans do not get 10 ft long; that would be a length acheived and passed by Brachyplatysoma filamentosum, a somewhat related fish that has a close name (Cali mixed up his scientific names on this one).

I do not know the exact location where the fish was caught...

LOL, it's kind of funny that they kept that fish.

The fish in the tank is another fish.

That is not a fish I'd want to catch...I'd have to throw it back, pole and all!!!

Has anyone around here been to Kemah? They have this catfish population that is almost scary...I'll post a picture when I can...

Where did that shovelnose get caught at?

Some of you know that I tend to like to post pics of big fish from time to time. Though Tiger Shovelnoses don't get near as big as the Piraiba, the Firewood Catfish, or any of the other giant Pims, the Tigers get big enough to probably not fit your tank.

And yes, these fish are quite adapted to consuming other fish, a warning which applies to nearly all Pims.

And how big does your tank need to be to keep one of these guys, you might ask...

At least this big...
