50,000 Gallon Home Aquarium (Read It To Beleive It!) | |
fishkid99 Enthusiast Posts: 252 Kudos: 218 Votes: 39 Registered: 07-Dec-2005 | a member of the website monsterfishkeepers.com has made a whoping 50,000 gallon aquarium. It is connected to his house and houses some big fish. And think of this: If you think you have it tough with water changes your water changes are nothing compared to this guy's: he changes 10,000 gallons of water a week. That makes me happy i only have a 55 gal.! haha. And luckily the guy posted a lot of pics from when they stated diging a hole for it till the completed result. I garuntee this will wow any fish keeper. Go here: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8952 tell me what you think >>>----> <----<<< pnh |

Unfortunately, many of these huge set-ups have rust problems, as this person has noted. You'd think they'd go with how most large public aquariums do it if there going to shell out that much cash anyway. In any case, it is pretty awesome. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

I would think it would need something like a dead whale in it to cause a big ammonia spike that would kill all the fish. But if it were to happen: THAT WOULD SUCK >>>----> <----<<< pnh |

Id go totally paludarium, trees, large lillies, and stuff in a complete working biotope of all the amazon fish I could find. It would be interesting to see what fish really call a territory. Frogs, small lizards , even a few small birds , it would be waay cool. If youre gonna have a tank that big, might as well build a vivarium into the floor above it The living trees might cut down on his water changes lol. In fact , wouldnt it be possible to provide enough plant filtration and microorganisms , reeds etc to do away with water changes as long as the current was good? You could have peat beds, the lot. That guy lacks ambition.lol. He just had to go with big fish didnt he, small ones are much less work .lol. |

That's not his only big tank. He has other tanks in the thousands of gallons. Really nice guy too. Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

My boss said he got some HUGE settlement from an accident of some sort. I don't know if that's true so definitely don't quote me on it or anything. I hope he has drainer taps set up, he'll never get control of a 25 foot long gravel cleaner from a wheelchair. I can imagine the look on the home helps face when he shows them the diving suit and starts pointing at the dirty spots in the tank. I hope hes not forced to give the tanks up, that would be a shame. Wouldnt it be cool if he did webcams of the tanks |
