After 36 years on the air. 36 years of great music, 99.1 FM WHFS had the switch flipped, the format changed the language switched. I thought it a joke when I first heard, 12 hours later when they were still at it, I happened to hear about iton another station! HFS was gone. No more years of HFS-tivals, no more Nutcrakers, no more accoustic feasts during thanksgiving, no more block party weekends no more morning crash, no more Zoltar @midnight Sundays. No more really good music ! From the beginings in a condo in Bethesda to where I knew their broadcasts from in the darth vader building near college park, From nirvana and pearl Jam to linken park and Korn. U2 thru it all, and all the bands that came and went, they were a great radiostation. One that wasn’t afraid to play new music, or afraid to play music in the mornings! A station that was fun to listen to, that made you want to work there, that’s quite likely responsible for my wanting to be in radio to begin with. Good-bye HFS, you can’t be replaced.
