Thanks high you're a gem!

I have some left-over sponge cake in my freezer and I want to use it to make a trifle. The only liqueur I have is brandy (if your recipe need a liqueur).

What else do I need?

Brandy is fine....

It's easy to make

Just spread the sponge cake with jam of some sort....I like strawberry or rasberry....

Put the sponge in the bottom of the trifle dish and pour some alcohol on it...

If you have any fruit preserves you can layer them on top of the liquor soaked sponge. Preserved berries are good, so are brandied peaches, etc.

Next put a lyer of custard on top of that....

Then a layer of REAL whipped cream. Whip your own, NEVER use the canned stuff for trifle.

Put some fresh fruit on top....I like berries a lot.

Garnish with slivered almonds and powdered sugar or whatever you want. Crushed ladyfinger cookies are good on top, you can do a second round of the cake and fruit preserve and custard layers before the whipped cream if you want.

EDIT: Leave it in the fridge overnight after you make it, that's VERY important so the cake can get all drunk and fruity.
