We have ants coming into our unit. Not anyway near as big as that fella. You be lying on the lounge watching TV and you get bit by the buggers. Doesn't help matters when I leave my empty chip packets on the floor.
The ants crawls around the tanks, and the fishy try getting them. Looks so funny. Seeing their little mouths chasing the ants through the glass. And the look on their faces when they catch up and can't get to them.

I gotta say ... Australia's a pretty beautiful country, but the number of things that can bite, sting, poison, or eat you is just ABSURD.
Where I live the greatest danger is ticks or possibly wasps.

True Gomer. Kero or petrol worked well

I can remember wading through flood water and you'd see this big clump of what looked like dirt floating on top of the water. As you got closer you'd realise it was like 100 bull ants all clinging to each other which would keep them afloat but if you got too close they would all try using you as a life boat
