If electric, grab it fast. There's realy not much to an electric guitar. The most important parts are the pick-ups, wich can be easily replaced if they aren't so good. If it's acoustic, I would have to ask, do you want to perform of just play at home. Acoustic guitars are so complex, even the finish can effect the sound! If you just want to play at home, you'll be OK with the cheapest guitar you can find. If you want to perform, buy the highest quality guitar you can afford. At $450 compared to $1900 an electric would be a super deal. That much off an acoustic would lead me to think that a lot of quality would be lost. Another factor is how you like the sound of the guitar. Every one like a different sound. If you think the less expensive guitar sounds better, buy it. If you like the more expensive guitar, wait until you can afford it with no problems and then buy a guitar you can get years of enjoyment out of. BTW: I didn't earn the nick name "12-String Andy" for nothing. At the moment I own a Dan Electro electric 12, two Rickenbacker semi-hollow electric 12's (one 1968 vintage, talk about major cash) Two Taylor acoustc 12's, one Yamaha acoustic 12, and even an antique 12 string mandolin. I've got a Martin acoustic 12 string on order, and debating whether or not to buy a Fender acoustic 12. (I don't care for Fender) Only my Dan Electro and Yamaha were under $500 (US) The rest start at about $2,500. I've even made this great stage name, Welvrig, ba Last edited by mrwelvrig at 20-Oct-2004 00:31 |
