i've seen the 25 foot ones for about close to $30, the 50 footers should b almost twice that...i believe there was a post about how to make your own DIY python though which will cost u a lot less and work the same way...i'm trying to find the time to make one for myself...

My bad, I was assuming it would be a large water change...I do a 75% every once in awhile, and in a thiry gallon, compensating for that 75% of water being taken out, wouldn't that be a huge or big dosage? Golly, I know nothing about fish-keeping, I swear.

Huge dosage? You don't dechlor the whole tank, just compensate for how much water you took out.

I do it at the shop and home.

I just figured such a huge dosage of dechlorinator would harm the fish. So you just add it to the little bit of water you have in the tank, and then start filling?
Brandi
P.S. I just don't have 60 dollars to spend on a Python...which really sucks.

HOWEVER!! I just graduated, so if you want to buy and send me one, all of you rich folks...I would be more than willing to accept the gift!

I'm pretty steady about just vacuuming the gravel and not the fish... They seem pretty clean already, I figure they don't need to be vacuumed...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Nope. You add the dechlor right before you turn on the water. Never, ever had a fish death, nor do they seem stressed. On the contrary they play in the water stream.

If they don't have it in Australia, and your heart is set on it, let me know. I can ship it to you.

Do they sell these in Australia? Can an Aussie let me know. I haven't seen them here. Although there is a heap of stuff I miss that is right there on the shelf.

You just add enough dechlor for the % of the tank water being replaced directly to the tank.

You say It then pumps fresh water back into your tank.

Does that mean you have to de-chloirinate the whole tank?

Well just to cut long things short. I do all the cleaning of my tank. i change 7 gallons every week and recently my back has started to ache quite alot during changing water because all the bending over and carrying 2gallon buckets across the house.

I anitially thought i wouldnt be able to carry on keeping fish because as im in my teens i dont want to do anything to my back and have problems for the rest of my life. Plus my mum said she would never help me out doing water changes.

Anyways, i have spoken to my mum and she says she will help me out doing water changes. Im glad of this because it would be a shame to see a tank ive put alot of money into being taken down.(thats if it came to that)

I will have to see how things go in the next few months because my mum might get fed up of helping me out.

Has anybody else had any injuries/health problems from keeping fish??

The original python comes with a 25 foot hose, and you can get 25 foot extensions, and 50 feet is plenty for 90% of cases.

Python no spill (i have the shirt)

They rock, i have one at home and a 50 foot version at work

And brandi, just lemme know what days you do changes, i'll come up and lug them for you

Ummm...to begin with, I believe they sell a python with something like a 200-250 foot hose...

Then, of course, there's a couple other solutions to that Brandi:

1)Fix the leak
2)Move the tank closer
OR...
3)Make your boyfriend pick up the bucket

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Grrr. my tank is all the way in my bedroom...the room furthest away from any tap in the house ]:|
That stinks because I lug a FIVE gallon bucket *with a leak in the bottom* from my room to my tank just about 5 times....Grrrrrrrrrr
Then, because I can't lift that bucket up to my tank to refill it, I do about 30 runs back and forth with a 2 liter picher....Holy crud, no wonder I hate water changes.
