The second unidentified bird looks like a Carolina Wren to me, with the long white eyebrows, yellowish belly, and short tail. As far as I know they are a year-round resident in much of the Eastern US. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

Leaving us with the song birds and others that could never outcompete the sparrows before. We've had all sorts of birds in the past including purple finches chased away by the sparrows and crows. Those 2 birds were all you could see aside from the odd robin. This year over a dozen more species than usual are happily hanging around with no harassment from sparrows or crows. Including 100s of those little juncos. I'm thinking it has something to do with the fact the prairie falcons have increased their population by at least 10x in the past couple years. There was 1 falcon at my mom's house when we moved 8 years ago and now at last count there was 7. You also would see maybe 1 or 2 in an hour long drive and I counted 15 sitting on fence posts or telephone poles just between here and the next town(~20mins). The favorite food of a prairie falcon: smaller birds like sparrows. |

We have fruit/nectar feeders for Orioles around here, so I'm wondering if you have something similar. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

Sat on the fence with all his mates and squawked at the Correllas until they left . The Rainbow Lorrikeet is a seriously tough bird . Natalie , We feed the many different types of Parrots we get a mix of seed called Wild Bird mix . They all seem to pick different types of seed that they like out of it . The feeder is a home made one , because we get many fogs here in the mountains I needed something that would drain so that the food would not spoil . So I built a fr Garry |
