Ok....was it just me or did this movie make you want to walk out of the theater and bang your head against a wall?

It was HORRIBLE!!!!! Don't see it. The first one was really good, so I thought this one ould be good too, but the story was weak and the whole movie was about that guy running from the CIA the whole time....it was a waste of money and time!!!! grrrr....]:|]:|]:|]:|

Darn, I was planning to see this, as the critics seemed to like it. I guess this is one of those movies where the critics are out of tune with what people actually want to see (there are too many of those these days - I keep renting things, getting half an hour in, and having to just plain give up. So many "highly regarded" films are just unwatchable, and I say that with all due respect for most (well, for good) art-house movies.
Anyone else hate The Triplets of Belleville, for example? Weird, yes. Provocative, yes. Arty, yes. Even mildly entertaining or stimulating: on a scale of 1-10, -48975.48.

I've heard from several sources that this movie is actually BETTER than the first.

And the next movie will be titled "The Bourne Ultimatem"

I loved the tripplets of belleville personaly, and the first bourne movie. I highly doubt the storyline started weak, its based off of one of a number of good spy novels. Maybe it got wattered down?

Honestly, I think the movies that critics rate highly get those ratings because either they're well done from a technical standpoint, or you actualy have to think about the movie to get it. Unfortunately thinking and watching a movie at the same time doesn't seem to be popular. Anyone remmember the scene in the field from bourne identity? Talking casualy with the guy he's just shot? How about the moral issues in swordfish, the words at the end of fear and loathing in las vegas, or the issue of free will and the emotional headjob in clockwork orange? The problem is that these sort of things are only semi-noticed. In the end its the biggest bang the most skin and a point of personal relation that sells movies; i'm tired of all 3.

People have to decide if they want to see movies or films.

Veteric - I enjoy films that require thought as much as I enjoy movies that don't, actually. However, that doesn't mean I'm going to like films that are a) confusing merely because hey, confusion is arty!, b) plotless or otherwise pretensiously set up to be "more meaningful" than other movies/films, or c) simply bad, but with unusual direction/editing/dialogue (ie the lack thereof in Triplets - the bad is of course JMO). Great films are absoutely excellent, but lately the market seems flooded with "great" films - terrible, unwatchable, preachy bits of claptrap that for some reason seem to engender good reviews (although many of the reviewers seem to figure out their mistakes by the time the movie hits video/DVD, those reviews are usually scathing).
Movies that are thoughtful and poignant: priceless.
Movies that pretend to be thoughtful and poignant while remaining in fact shameless, pathetic, and badly written: a dime a dozen.

Of course i'm talking about real decent movies here. I know the kind your talking about- I hate all 3 matrix movies with a burning passion. I found the triplettes of belleville fun because it told a story through action and expression, what they did took an amazing ammount of skill. Though it might just be me on that one, i found everything flowed so perfectly in my mind, it was great. Other than that, movies have always been a wasteland for actual thought, and the ones that do think get recognised for everything except the thought in them. To me whats come out is a serries of special effects *expletives deleted* followed by some b-grade eastern philosophy (note philosophy not religion mentioned )and a general "western culture is crap" message. I've found good critics yank those ones out fast, and I applaude the ones who do that.
