Hi everyone,

Just posting to say I'll be gone for about 6 weeks, I'm leaving early tomorrow morning to go to the Middle East for a missions trip. I'll be back in August. Take care! (of your fishies!)

EDIT: didn't mean to make this a poll

Travel safely. Enjoy broadening your mind. Leave what usually happens at home back home and embrace the way they do things in the places you visit....

I'm back!

It's funny, whenever I hear people speaking English with an American accent I think they're talking to me... Kind of overwhelming in the airports...

It was a great trip!

Glad you are back. If you can't tell us exactly where can you share some of the following with us about your travels:

* Best meal or thing you ate!

* Something that made you really laugh

* Something you missed from home

* Something you DIDN'T miss from home

* Something surprising

* Something that will stay with you a long time

Natalie: Because although the country is officially open to missionaries, unofficially there are people there who may wish harm upon said persons.

I can do that, Wish!

Best food: Kofte (meatballs) - Heh, I'm a fan of meatballs in most languages. Actually I don't think I found any food I really disliked.

Something that made me laugh: One of my local friends' explainations of how to ask the time both in the language and then assuring me that if I couldn't say it, I could just point at my wrist and shrug and look confused.

Something I missed from home: Rootbeer and milkshakes. And clean air most of the time.

Something I didn't miss: American inhospitableness (if that's a word).

Somehing surprising: One brand of facial tissues at the local grocery store had only the same Christmas-themed boxes, with colored snowflakes, Christmas tree, ornaments, holly, and bells, etc. (very clip-arty, but also under the category of things that made me laugh)

Something that will stay with me for a long time: Hard question; I've learned a lot, done a lot. The lessons I've learned, the friends I have made, and memories of the sights I've seen will stay with me for a long time.
