Are you going to stop and see anything on the way? I'm going to get my atlas and check this out, there must be some cool things to see along the way....

when hubby and I are on the road, loves and the flying J are the two we normally stop at. I ALWAYS get coffee when we go on road trips...

unfortunately - my next trip may not be till september *shrugs*

I know in your itinerary, it shows you staying 25 days.

i only got 2 weeks with whetu...

anyway, you can always just go to the bathroom to check out the showers at the truck stops before you decide to use them. i know that "love's" truck stops are usually kept very clean, but i don't know how far they reach across the country.

you can sleep in your car at a rest stop if you want cheap (free ), but it's better to pick one that's well lit. some of them are literally a bathroom on the side of the highway and are usually not lit at night. they won't let you pitch a tent though, you would have to sleep in your car. and they almost never have security guards or other kind of employees at them, so you would really be doing it at your own risk. but if you find one that has a lot of spaces for big trucks, those are usually the safest ones to stop at.

also keep an eye out for signs that say "speed monitored by radar", they mean it! supposedly new mexico will track you with a helicopter, but i've never seen one, so i don't know how true that is... maybe someone from new mexico is reading this? *looks in betta dragon's direction*

Before I begin my analysis of your trek path, I just wanted to ask, how many days are you staying? You're welcome to stay a year if you want to, I'm just curious because the number of days you stay will allow us to do more with our time (including visit Dallas). I know in your itinerary, it shows you staying 25 days. If that's actually the case, that'll be awesome because we can do a TON!
