I have noticed with a few types of candies that when i eat them, my teeth hurt once i start eating another food. The feeling goes away after i chew for a minute. Is there some kind of chemical in some candies that does this? I do not have any cavaties. It only happens with certain candies such as ice breakers. anyone else have this problem?

Could be you just have sensitive teeth. Mine are mostly sensitive to hot and cold, especially painful when I'm eating a hot meal and take a sip of ice cold water, or biting into a popsicle. I've heard of sensitivity to chemical changes, like pH too. That's probably what causes it. Toothpaste for sensitive teeth helps in the long run, as the sensitivity is due to thinness of the enamel that makes your food and such that much closer to the nerve endings, the toothpaste helps build the enamel up.

On the other hand, those cheap Bit o' Honey candies make my teeth hurt, because they're so sticky and hard to chew they pull on my teeth. I decided to avoid them after one bag because I thought I might lose my fillings!

I've seen toothpastes for people with sensitive teeth, have you tried those? This happens to me occasionally, but I've never bothered to try any of the toothpastes, it may help.

Back to the candy part of the question..... no, haven't had that with candy. But I don't particularly like the loll-lolls that have grainy sugar over them. I think it is like sand. Jubes, mint leaves and the like have this grain sugar over them. Maybe because I avoid that sort of candy I don't have that thing you experience?

Might not be a cavity, but you could have a cracked tooth. I had a very small crack that if it wasn't for a determined and patient dentist I would still be in pain. The particular tooth didn't have a cavity, but it still hurt when I ate certain foods.

I've got the same thing, some candy even some chocolate makes my teeth hurt.
Asked the dentist once and she said it was the sugar reacting and suggested sensodine (and probably wanted to add "eat less candy!" ).

If you do have trouble with it, I'd really suggest brushing as soon after (use a sensitive tooth toothpaste) as you can. You don't exactly have any baby teeth left to sacrifice after all!

Interesting, the package say- may cause irritation to the mouth. I am going to have to go their website and research these chemicals.

Sometimes when eating regular foods my teeth feel like there comeing loose, but that could all be in my head.
