OK then well I have jsut got a new computer for work with XP pro. The current computers we have are : 1 laptop on XP pro and 3 others with Win 2000.

Now since I got this new computer nothing have been running right. They sometimes see each other and sometimes not.

Not too make it worst the database that is on one of the 2000 computers doesn't work. It is a MySQL database. SO that is frustrating me even more.

Now that will work sometimes and then othere times not.

So does anyone know anything or can help me here????

the 2k computers will see each other fine (you probably knew that already), but for xp you have to log into those other comps as administrator before you can see any resources on them. i don't know if there is an automated way to do this on boot-up but that is how i got mine to talk to each other. i hate it that they are barely compatible, just yet another reason to switch to something besides windows if you ask me

Yeh I know. They can see each other. But I did have it set up and working fine with only 1 XP machine.

Oh well I have updated them all to WIN XP now. So that sorts that problem out I hope! Haven't finished doing it all yet.

Now I am unable to locate the networked printer. Yet another problem! I am not liking computers at all hey!

As well as that I updated one of the computers and now I lost the email in outlook. Where does outlook store the messages??? Maybe I can copy them in???

I haven't tried the MySQL yet but I am looking into something new as the program that we have at the moment is written by a little guy and well he has given up with completing it for us.

Anyone us ACT??? Looking at that one at the moment. I need to be able to track dates on particular things but then be able to associate contacts with more then one thing. So I think that would be the keywords or groups part??

Any help would be great guys and girls!

Robert.

try this site for help with windows products. you have to be a little creative sometimes for how you word your searches, but most of what you need should be there

YEH YEH YEH

I did it!

Finally after 4 days trying to get it working it was a lousy blank password fields in all the users which wasn't allowing everyone to see each other.

How stupid. From using windows 2000 this one doesn't need passwords but XP does. STUPID STUPID STUPID.

Oh well that is working but now I can't see the printer on the network. GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRR I reset the network card for the printer but still to no success. SO have given in and plugged it back onto a computer. It works.

Just the MySQL part of it to go and will be all back up and running smoothly (fingers crossed!) Got the program creator coming tomorrow to look at it as I have no idea. Lets hope it doesn't take as long! :%)
