"Ya put her under a black light yet? "

I was thinking about that the black light thing the other day.

Is prolonged use of a blacklight very bad for the insect?

Also is that an emporer scorpion? I dont think we can get those here.

Yes, prolonged use of black lights is detrimental to their health due to the UV radiation they emit. I went to one store near to my school that kept their scorpions under a black light twenty-four hours a day, and they were complaining that the scorpions always had poor appetites and usually died after a few months. After I explained why black lights shouldn't be used, they took them off and just kept them under a normal light instead. When I went back about a month and a half later, they told me that the general health of their scorpions had improved greatly and that they had no more deaths.

I used to keep some Emperor Scorpions, but I decided to get rid of them after a couple months of dealing with crickets chirping loudly all night, and my mom said I couldn't set up another fish tank unless I got rid of the Emperors. I was also keeping some smaller native scorpions I found outside, and those guys would just eat small insects I collected.

Also, scorpions are unlike other arachnids in that they can usually be kept in groups. There are some that need to be alone, but Emperors are commonly found living with other members of the same species in the wild (the same is true for the species that live around here). When I had my scorpions, I think I had two females and a male all living together in the same habitat. When cohabiting them, however, it is important to make sure that they all get enough to eat, because the largest one will usually catch the most prey and/or steal food from the smaller individuals.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
