Well at the moment im in one of the phases where im just out of the hobby where i dont feed my fish as often as normally would, i dont go to fishprofiles forums anymore, got shivers when i look at the empty tank that need some heavy work...

is this a normal feeling because its happening right now.
have you had a similar experience? How did you over come this syndrome?(excuse the grammar)

I go thru that from time to time..

Just seems like the tanks are more work than they need to be, I don't have time to mess with them and I'd rather be doing anything that's not tinkering with a tank or talking about fish.. There's also alot of other things that sound like fun and I'd rather spend time doing them..

Normally after a few weeks I snap out of it.. I find some nifty thing that I'd like for one of my tanks or I get an idea that I think will be really fun to try.. Then I'm all about the aquariums again..

Guess what I'm saying is, don't worry about it.. Keep your tanks clean and your fish fed and they'll be waiting for you when you feel like devoting more time to the hobby.. You don't have to be a gung ho aquarist all the time.. There's nothing wrong with just sitting back and letting the fishies do their business, so long as you don't let it slip into outright neglect..

If you finally decide that aquarium keeping isn't your thing, find the fish new homes and tuck the tank away.. You never know, maybe later on down the road you'll want to give it another try..

Good Luck to ya, no matter what you decide..

Yeah... I think it's normal. Sometimes I like to sit and watch my fish all day, and others I hardly pay attention to them. (Except for feeding, of course.)

Being apart of the fish community on the Internet helps a lot. Like comparing and talking about aquariums, fish, etc. with other fish lovers.

Sure, it happens. Usually I find I have too many tanks, or worse, too many small tanks that require lots of maintenance. Scaling back can help a lot, but, amusingly, I find what really gets me revved up is setting up or planning to set up a new tank! Larger, of course.

sometimes i forget to fedd and turn on the lights of the bacement fish, but its more of a day off for them, when i go away they are all i think of, because EVERYTIME!!!! i got away for a week or even a few days, i come back to dead fosh if i have my dad feed them, never again will i have my downstairs fish fed, only my fry and bettas get fed when i am gone, and that seems to be working, i left for a few days and came back to half of my fish dead, or a female guppy i had just bought was dead wedges between the glass and a leaf, with dead babys hanging from her i came back to an oscar desprate to see me he was like my dog, if he could have jumped out of the tank and jumped all over me i bet he would have those are the times u hope for, but other times its like ..... whatever

I'm going through that right now.
Two weeks ago, I was ready to cycle a ten gallon tank so I could get some more cories.
Since then, I can't remember really looking at my fishes beyond the standard checks.

I think it is a pretty common feeling to have with most things in general, not just fish keeping. I have internet games that I am very into... I go through times when I want to spend the whole day doing nothing but playing it, and I go through times when I don't play at all for weeks. It is totally normal to have varied interests, and I think it is human nature to be into different things at different times. I find one of the things that can make it a little off setting is if you get in over your head and have more maintenance to do than you want. Maybe scale back a little bit, or do an overhaul (for fun, not because you have to) to an existing tank. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Yep i get like this as well. Mainly in the summer time as it is too hot and the plants just don;t surive too well with the heat and so it takes a lot more to keep the tank looking good.

I'm going thru the phase myself.

Im just not enthusiastic about it right now and as a result my 2 smaller tanks look like crap..

Yes, sometimes can feel like it's alot of work,
but you get those rare moments when the tank and fish are just how you want it. Clean tanks with healthy plants and active fish.. This can be amazing to look at and hopefully soon I'll kick myself in the pants to get it all back to the way it should be. Feelin kinda guilty but I needed the break.
