Don't think I'll want an engagement ring...was talking with a coworker of mine that just had her two () year anni....something happened about 2 weeks before her wedding that made her just want the ring and him to propose all properly :%). So they found a really nice ring in nordstroms (not a real one) and he proposed and everything...they spent the money on the wedding rings and 2 receptions (one in WI one in MD ).

I'll take this as an engagement ring anyday body alone is only $12,000somethingish.

I have to admit the set I got from my ex was gorgeous (read: $$$) but I don't remember cost, weight, etc...hard pressed to actually remember what it looked like

This may sound selfish or whatever, but I got tired of jewelry. With my ex, a holiday equaled jewelry and/or flowers, no thought or imagination.

My engagement ring I wear now is either .33 or .25, can't remember and it doesn't matter to me. The spouse put a lot of thought and time into choosing it. We have matching wedding bands, simple white and yellow gold

Tanya, I dont know anything about carats and what not but a mate of mine is marrying his girl in april and they had a budget for a ring of $5000, then they found out his dad knows a very reputable jeweller and he will custom design and make for them at 50% rate. Doubled their money! Anyway, when i find out what it is i will let you know, i have no clue with this stuff

my wife got nothing. (don't kill me ladies) we decided we would rather spend the money on actual wedding rings instead of an engagement ring. the whole idea of an engagement ring is kind of dumb, imho. why not just pee on her to mark your territory instead of giving a ring
