Take the small end of the hose, and put your thumb over it. Fill the big part with water and hold it up a little bit, having the hose end with your finger on it capped off. Let your thumb off slightly and let the water come down to the end. Before it sprays everywhere, cap it off with your thumb again, getting the water all the way to the end. Refill the big end, put it in the tank, and let the thumb-capped end go. Siphoning with no water, and it's much simpler.

However, I have woken up some nights thirsty, and felt too lazy to go to the bathroom or downstairs for a drink. The sound of running water is VERY tempting It's all I can do not to drink from a betta bowl or something. They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes, They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

It was when I was feeding my fish, and my snakeskin gourami got spooked and splashed a good amount of water in my mouth and on my face. I must admit, it did taste a lot better than tap water...
