Was just thinking..... know what I could do with? A combo thermometer & ph reader. Attach it to inside of tank like internal thermometer, 'cept it gives a digial readout for ph and temp....

That got me to thinking that FP should have a Eureka Prize for the best invention for making aquarists life easier.

What would you invent (you can patent it of course!)

A robo-vac

I could just attach a BN to either side and they could swim it around the tank. They'd take care of the algae and the vac would suck up the gunge (considering the BN are the primary cause of the gunge, I like this plan

Failing that, i'd invent the infamous poo-eating fish

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

Yes, the poo eating fish, that could climb out of you're tank, sit on the toilet to do it's business and then happily return to your tank

Also it'd have to be extremely pretty and small enough to fit in a 10g.

A less expensive, less tedious way to make soft, acidic water besides an RO unit.

All the fish I like need "soft, acidic" water and my water in 7.2 with 300 ppm gH. Dang me!!

Automatic Tank Changer -

Press a Button and whatever amount of water you would like changed would "flush" out into a recycle type system. Then the gravel or sand would "Flush" into a seperate side where it gets completely cleaned and recycled up a hose to where the fresh water - of the same temp that you just "flushed" out gets dispensed into the tank, the gravel or sand, also gets dispensed evenly to the bottom of the tank and a large arm comes down and replants everything in the exact spot it was before. The fish remain untouched and the tank completely spotless at the end of the process. (AND it all would take 20 minutes or less depending on tank size).

You confuse me.... you are an Aussie living in Dallas right?
Not someone from Dallas living in Australia.... I knew there was expat status in there somewhere.

Wish, we use a thingy like that at work, it does temp, ph & a few other things that i havn't gotten around to callibrating it for yet. Different sorta set up to that one though, ours has a hand held digital bit & a wand attached by a cord that you bung in the water... in theory you can leave the wand in the tank with the unit attached to the side of your tank or stashed under your hood or something. Very useful lil doobies. But anyway, in answer to the availability question, yes they are indeed available here.

A gravel cleaner!!!

taking down a tank and have YEARS of trapped gunk in there? plop it into the gravel box! works like a tumbler with jets in the bottom making the gravel swim, then another hose transports the dirty water to any chosen location! weither its out the window, of down the sink!

That could sell right?
